New engine for tanker Kepler

New engine for tanker Kepler

Technical regulations and new regulations regarding emission limits required a new engine.

We replaced the engine and gearbox, including a state-of-the-art exhaust gas purification system. A "Mitsubishi" brand engine was used.

The exhaust gas cleaning system was pre-assembled outside the ship on a frame and lifted into the ship for final assembly. Modern diesel vehicles require AdBlue, so a ballast tank was put to a new use.

Components, pipes and electrical cables had to be adapted and repositioned for the conversion work.

After six weeks at ÖSWAG Werft Linz , the tanker Kepler was back on schedule and has been transporting fuel safely and effectively along the Danube ever since.
