This year it was time again for the ÖSWAG company outing. The destination chosen was the capital of Italy - Rome.
The bus departed for Vienna-Schwechat at 2:30 am. We landed in Rome on time at 8:10. We were welcomed there and set off on a panoramic tour of Rome, visiting the Domitilla Catacombs, the Church of Santa Prassede and the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore. Some of us used the free evening to attend a soccer match, while others spent the evening relaxing in one of Rome's restaurants.
On day 2, we set off at 8:30 a.m. to visit the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. After the lunch break, we continued with the Vatican and St. Peter's Basilica. The evening was dedicated to the culinary delights and nightlife of the Italian capital.
On Saturday, we had time to explore Rome on our own. Here we visited the last sights such as the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, the Pantheon and the Bridge of Angels. We spent the evening having dinner together in a taverna, which also marked the end of our trip.
On Sunday we started our journey home. After a final refreshment on Italian soil, we headed for Munich. A bus took us back to the company in Linz.
Conclusion: Rome is definitely worth a trip, but you should probably plan 1-2 more days to explore all the highlights and experience the culinary delights even more.
